Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Optional

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, mix the milk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until just combined. Avoid overmixing; a few lumps are okay.
  5. Transfer the batter into a piping bag or ziplock bag, snip off one corner, and squeeze the batter into the greased donut pan, filling each mold about halfway.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 10-12 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow them to cool for a few minutes in the pan before transferring to a wire rack.
Finishing Touches
  1. Dip your cooled donuts in chocolate glaze or sprinkle with powdered sugar, and perhaps add some sprinkles for that festive touch.

Notes

Don’t overmix the batter, as mixing too much can lead to dense donuts. Keep them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze them for longer storage.
