Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 slices hearty bread (ciabatta, sourdough, or whole-grain) Choose a robust bread to hold everything together.
  • 8 ounces deli-sliced turkey breast Or use leftover roasted turkey.
  • 1/2 cup pesto Use store-bought or homemade for the best flavor.
  • 4 ounces fontina cheese Semi-soft cheese that melts beautifully.
Optional Add-ons
  • 1/4 cup sun-dried tomatoes For an extra kick.
  • 1 cup arugula Can be added for freshness.
  • 1 none avocado Slice and add for creaminess.

Method

Preparation
  1. Gather all your ingredients and have them ready to go.
  2. If you're using homemade pesto or other toppings like arugula or sun-dried tomatoes, prep those ahead of time.
Assemble the Sandwich
  1. Spread a generous amount of pesto on one side of two slices of bread.
  2. Layer turkey slices on top, followed by slices of fontina cheese.
  3. Optionally, add any additional fillings you desire.
  4. Top with the other slice of bread, pesto side down.
Grill the Sandwich
  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a drizzle of olive oil or a pat of butter.
  2. Once hot, place the assembled sandwich in the skillet.
  3. Grill for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese melts.
Serve and Enjoy
  1. Remove your sandwich from the skillet and let it cool for just a minute before slicing it in half.
  2. Serve with a side salad or chips for a complete meal.

Notes

For a panini-style sandwich, use a panini maker or a weighted skillet to achieve a perfectly crisp outer layer. Let the sandwich rest before cutting to maintain its structure.
