Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup black beans, drained and rinsed Make sure to rinse well to avoid moisture.
  • 1/2 cup oat flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder Unsweetened cocoa powder preferred.
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup Adjust based on sweetness preference.
  • 1/4 cup almond butter or peanut butter Can substitute based on dietary needs.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional) Use dairy-free for a vegan version.

Method

Preparation
  1. Gather all your ingredients and measure them out. Ensure your black beans are rinsed and drained well to avoid any unnecessary moisture.
  2. In a food processor, add the black beans, oat flour, cocoa powder, honey (or maple syrup), almond butter (or peanut butter), vanilla extract, baking powder, and salt. Blend until you achieve a smooth and consistent batter.
  3. Before you add any chocolate chips, taste your batter. If you want it sweeter, feel free to add more honey or maple syrup.
  4. If you desire, fold in the chocolate chips for extra richness.
  5. While the batter is ready to indulge right away, it can taste even better after chilling in the fridge for about 30 minutes. It thickens up beautifully.
  6. Scoop out your desired amount and enjoy it straight from the bowl or use it as a topping for yogurt or smoothie bowls.

Notes

For best results, avoid over-blending the batter to maintain texture. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week, or freeze for longer storage.
