Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 4 cups fresh pears, peeled and sliced Use ripe but not overripe pears.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Enhances the natural sweetness of pears.
Topping
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts Lightly toasted for more flavor.
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour.
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced pears with half of the brown sugar and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
  3. Place the prepared pears at the bottom of a greased baking dish.
Make the Topping
  1. In another bowl, combine the rolled oats, remaining brown sugar, chopped walnuts, flour, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Add the melted butter and stir until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Assemble and Bake
  1. Evenly spread the topping over the prepared pears.
  2. Place the baking dish in your preheated oven and bake for about 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the pears are tender.
  3. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider mixing and matching with other fruits like apples, and enhancing with spices like nutmeg or ginger. Serve warm with ice cream or yogurt.
